From SDB Academy to Perth Glory: The Journey of Leandro Jesus
At SDB Academy, we believe in nurturing young talent and giving players the tools they need to express themselves on the pitch. Today, we are incredibly proud to share the success story of one of our outstanding graduates, Leandro Jesus.
Leandro joined the SDB Academy family when he was just seven years old. Drawn to our program by the promise of learning authentic Brazilian flair, he wanted a place where he could truly express himself through football. Over the next six years, Leandro became a shining example of what dedication, passion, and the right guidance can achieve.
Developing Technical Brilliance and Confidence
During his time with us from ages 7 to 13, Leandro’s growth was phenomenal. When asked what changed the most about him as a player, he highlighted his technical ability and confidence. SDB Academy provided him with the environment to play the style of football he loved, allowing his natural talent to flourish.
But our focus at SDB Academy goes beyond just footwork. We aim to build character. For Leandro, the academy helped him develop essential leadership skills and a strong work ethic. He learned early on that "training and hard work is key" to achieving your goals.
A Stand-Out Moment to Remember
Every player has that one special memory, and for Leandro, it was the Sydney Futsal Cup in 2022. Although his team faced a tough loss in the semi-finals, Leandro’s individual brilliance shone through as he took home both the Golden Boot and the MVP awards. It was a testament to his hard work and the technical foundation he built at SDB.

Where is Leandro Now?
Now 15 years old, Leandro is making waves in the football world. He is currently playing as a Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM) for the Perth Glory U18s/U23s NPL Academy. His next big goal? To represent the WA State Team U16s and ultimately achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer, inspired by his grandfather.
